FACE REALITY ACNE PROGRAM FAQ

Q: What is the Face Reality Acne Program?

A: The Face Reality Acne Program is a comprehensive program designed to treat acne effectively through a structured skincare and treatment regimen. It's specifically tailored for individuals struggling with persistent acne issues and aims to achieve clear skin by addressing the root causes of acne. The Face Reality Acne Program is designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools to effectively manage and eventually clear their acne. Using a structured home care routine is the core approach of this acne program.

Q: Can Face Reality help hormonal acne, cystic acne, Adult acne, teen acne, or fungal acne?

A: Yes! The Face Reality Acne Program is fully tailored to your individual skin and specific acne triggers, making it effective for a wide range of acne types. Whether you’re dealing with hormonal acne, cystic breakouts, adult or teen acne, or fungal acne, the program identifies the underlying causes and addresses them systematically. Each regimen is customized with products, treatments, and guidance designed to balance your skin, reduce inflammation, clear congestion, and support long-term skin health.

Q: What happens during the first consult and treatment appointment?

A: During the initial appointment, we start with a judgment-free deep dive into your skin's history, including when your acne began, how it's changed, what products you're using, potential triggers, and more. We then create a treatment and home care plan that is personalized to your skin's unique needs. During the appointment, you will receive your first acne treatment, which includes a double cleanse, peel or enzyme, extractions, and serum, moisturizer, and SPF application. Home care products are not included in the cost of the appointment and are vital to your acne healing journey.

Q: How much do the Face Reality skincare products cost?

A: Most Face Reality products cost between $30-$40 each. I typically start my clients with a cleanser, toner, moisturizer, SPF, serum, acne serum and other products as needed based on your skin type. For optimal results, plan to invest $200 - $300 for your home care routine during this initial appointment, and plan for refills as needed.

Q: Can I use my own products during the acne Program?

A: No, it’s important to only use the products recommended for your program. Each product has a specific role in healing your skin. Whether it’s reducing inflammation, clearing congestion, balancing oil production, or supporting barrier repair - they are all vital to the success of your healing. They are carefully formulated to work together as a system, and introducing outside products can interfere with how they function, slow your progress, and trigger new breakouts. Sticking to the recommended regimen ensures your skin has the best chance to heal efficiently and reach long-term clarity.

Q: How long does it take to heal acne?

A: There’s no set timeline for healing acne, as it can vary widely depending on several factors:

  • Severity of Acne: Mild acne may clear more quickly, while moderate to severe acne can take longer to resolve.

  • Consistency of Treatment and Homecare: Following your customized regimen closely is crucial—skipping treatments or not adhering to instructions can delay results.

  • Underlying Causes: Hormonal imbalances, diet, stress, and other lifestyle factors all play a role in how quickly your skin responds.

Many clients notice improvement within the first 90 days of starting the program, but complete clearance may take longer. Because every person’s skin is unique, patience and consistency are key to achieving lasting results.

Q: Will my skin purge or get worse before it gets better?

A: Some clients experience a “purge” as your skin adjusts to the new regimen. This is normal and indicates that clogged pores are clearing and your skin is responding to treatment. I’ll guide you through what to expect and how to care for your skin during this phase.

Q: Do I have to make lifestyle or diet changes to heal my acne?

A: Healing acne isn’t just about what you put on your skin, it also involves addressing internal factors that can contribute to breakouts. Making adjustments to your diet, managing stress, improving sleep, and supporting overall wellness are all important parts of the Face Reality Acne Program. Following these guidelines, along with your customized skincare regimen, gives your skin the best chance to clear and stay healthy long-term.

Q: Can I do the Face Reality Program if I’m working with a dermatologist to heal my acne?

A: To safely participate in the Face Reality Acne Program, you must be completely off any prescription acne medications from a dermatologist, including topical or oral treatments. It’s essential to consult with your dermatologist before stopping any prescriptions. Keep in mind that discontinuing these medications can sometimes cause rebound acne, which may appear worse before it gets better, even with following the Face Reality protocol. Additionally, if you’ve taken Accutane, you must wait at least 12 months after completing your course before starting the program.

Q: How is the Face Reality Acne Program different from working with a dermatologist?

A: The Face Reality Acne Program takes a well rounded, hands-on approach to healing acne, while a dermatologist typically focuses on prescribing medications. With Face Reality, we assess your skin in depth, identify your unique triggers, and create a fully customized treatment and homecare plan. We also consider lifestyle factors, diet, stress, and hormonal influences that can affect your skin, things a prescription alone doesn’t address. This hands-on approach combined with ongoing guidance empowers you to understand your skin and achieve long-term clarity, rather than simply managing symptoms with medication.

Q: What will hinder my acne healing progress?

A: Several factors can slow or prevent acne from fully clearing, even when following a program. These include:

  • Certain medications: Some prescription drugs, like steroids or hormonal treatments can trigger breakouts.

  • Certain birth control methods: Some (not all) hormonal contraceptives may worsen acne. We'll go over acne-friendly forms of birth control as needed.

  • Inconsistent treatment or homecare: Skipping treatments, not following your regimen, or using unapproved products can interfere with progress.

  • Underlying health or hormonal issues: Hormonal imbalances, thyroid issues, or other internal conditions can impact your skin.

  • Lifestyle factors: High stress, poor sleep, or diet choices that trigger inflammation can slow healing.

Addressing these factors alongside your customized skincare plan is essential for achieving long-term, lasting results. I'll help answer any questions and compassionately guide you towards and adjustments that may be needed.

Q: How often do I need to come in for treatments and what do I book?

A: I suggest coming in once every 4-6 weeks. Coming in around once a month helps address extractions, exfoliation needs, and homecare tweaks as needed. You have the option to book either the Face Reality Acne Facial or Face Reality Acne Peel.

Q: What is the difference between the Face Reality Acne Facial or Face Reality Acne Peel?

A: The Face Reality Acne Facial is a 60-minute full length facial that includes a steamed double cleanse, acne peel or enzyme, extractions, high frequency, cooling face massage, masque, and serum, moisturizer, and SPF application, as well as a neck, shoulder, hand, arm and scalp massage. If you prefer a shorter or more affordable treatment, the 30-minute Face Reality Acne Peel includes a cleanse, acne peel or enzyme, extractions, and serum, moisturizer, and SPF application. Both are beneficial to the healing of your acne and you are welcome to choose either based on your time and budget preferences.

Q: Do I need to continue using the Face Reality products after my acne clears?

A: Yes, it is important to continue using the suggested routine even once your skin is cleared. Acne is a chronic condition, meaning it will come back if you stop using the suggested Face Reality routine or start to re-implement your acne lifestyle triggers. Face Reality is formulated for long-term skin health, and many of the products contain healthy aging benefits as well as acne-fighting properties, and are formulated to use long term.
